We knew we wanted an old, big, historic building in Cleveland for our reception. We only needed to look at two venues to know Cleveland City Hall was the right location for us. It is absolutely stunning and needed minimal decor. We continued with our gold, tan, cream and black color palette. There is no feeling in the world like walking into your wedding reception venue and seeing everything that you have planned for so long come together. I can’t thank Taste of Excellence enough for their coordination, catering and mostly just for making the whole day run as smooth as possible. The reception was absolutely my favorite part of the day. The whole thing was magical however, a couple moments really stand out in my mind.
–Dancing with my dad. My dad isn’t really the ‘dancing’ type so it was really nice to spend those few moments with him laughing, crying (me) and chatting about how great everything was going so far.
–Our sibling dance. We did a ‘sibling dance’ instead of a typical wedding party dance. Myself, Ben and our four siblings danced to a cover of ‘I’ll be There for You,’ the Friends TV show theme song. We are all obsessed with Friends so it was truly fitting.
–The speeches. I can’t even explain how amazing these were. We had a lot of speeches (my dad, 2 maids of honor, 2 best men and a prayer) but they were all short, sweet, unique and absolutely unreal. I laughed, I cried, I remembered. I can’t thank these people enough for speaking on our day – I know how hard it can be and they all totally nailed it!
–Our first dance. This was absolutely my favorite part of the day and a lot of our guests said the same thing. We had picked an acoustic cover of ‘Make you Feel my Love’ from YouTube to dance to. Well, Ben’s sister had someone FLOWN IN from California to play and sing the song for us live. I couldn’t believe my eyes or my ears. It was emotional, a total shock and complete perfection. Hands down one of the best gifts in the history of wedding gifts. ever.
